Six Free Things To Do In Myrtle Beach
Picture this: You save up some funds, you set aside your vacation time, and you finally take a vacation in Myrtle Beach. It’s everything you hoped it would be, and at the end of the trip, you come home and realize that you’re under budget! You still have some cash leftover. So, maybe you start saving it for your next trip to the beach.
This can be you! It’s all about being wise with your money when you head to the beach for a vacation. And one of the best ways to save on your Myrtle Beach vacation is to find all the fun, free activities that Myrtle Beach has to offer! To help you realize this dream, here’s a list of six free things to do at the beach:
Enjoy The Beach
The beach is the primary reason that thousands flock to the area every year and the fact that enjoying the beach is free is just icing on the cake! Monterey Bay is oceanfront, making it almost effortless to get your toes into the sand. Spend the day lazily lounging or bring a few beach games out and enjoy a little friendly competition with family and friends.
Visit The Boardwalk
The recently renovated boardwalk is the perfect place to enjoy an afternoon stroll. Almost a mile in length, the boardwalk enjoys an ideal oceanfront location, providing spectacular views of the Atlantic. Throughout the year the boardwalk also hosts a variety of events and entertainment, most of which are completely free to the public!
See Wild Animals at the Preservation Station
Believe it or not - Admission to the T.I.G.E.R.S. preservation station in North Myrtle Beach is free! You can get up close and personal with uncaged wild animals, including rare Bengal and Siberian tigers. You just have to resist the temptation to pay extra to have your photo taken with the cuddly animals in your lap.
View Local Art
Admission to the world-class Franklin G. Burroughs – Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum is free to the public and there’s always a new and interesting exhibit going on. The museum contains ten galleries, most of which feature different exhibits throughout the year. Enjoy a variety of art from both local and national artists in all forms.
Visit Area Parks
There are plenty of great parks to enjoy in Myrtle Beach, including Grande Park at the Market Common, which includes a scenic walking path around the lake and a great play area for kids. There are even fitness centers set up along the walking path to help you get in a great outdoor workout. Other area parks include Withers Swash Park, Spivey Park, Canal Street Park, Chapin Park, Lyons Cove Park, and McCleod Park.
Check Out Local Events
There is almost always a free and fun event going on in Myrtle Beach, from the summertime Hot Summer Nights on the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk to the Annual Greek Festival to Mayfest on Main. Not sure what’s going on when you’re here? Just ask our staff! We’re here to help you have a great time, and we can help you find fun activities.
Of course, when you stay at Monterey Bay Suites, there’s always the option of just hanging out at the resort and taking advantage of our amazing amenities!
