Shopping and dining options fun and varied at Coastal Grand Mall in Myrtle Beach
North Beach Plantation is arguably one of the coolest accommodations on the Grand Strand.
The North Myrtle Beach resort not only offers high-rise living, but also full-fledged pampering by way of spas, private cabanas and fine dining among other amenities.
A first-class accommodations experience is well complimented by a shopping excursion that is just as exquisite, and Coastal Grand Mall is the perfect place in which to indulge.
The Grand Strand’s largest mall has more than 100 stores, a 14-cinema complex, a food court and additional restaurants adjacent to the mall.
It is, in occasionally quirky ways, a microcosm of Myrtle Beach.
Visit the mall on any given day and you will see the mall walkers.
They are adorned in their sweat suits and best walking shoes. While maintaining a brisk pace, they circle around the inner walls of the mall at least once before many folks emerge from their favorite store.
Coastal Grand Mall also reflects the area’s youthful culture.
Teenagers tend to migrate around Cinemark, the movie theater, which is near the food court. Here, they stand or sit talking, giggling and snuggling until their show of choice starts.
In the middle of the mall, there is a mini playground of sorts for kids. Bungee-like swings, outfitted with safety harnesses, allow children to laugh with glee for a while as their parents take well-deserved breaks and watch them with just as much glee as their young ones spring into the air. When playtime is over, families assume their strategic tour of the mall.
No matter when you visit Coastal Grand Mall, you will see some people dressed casually in shorts and flip-flops. It’s a beach thing. Get used to it.
Once you’ve been in Myrtle Beach for a while, you will learn that the best time to shop is either early in the morning when the mall first opens, or later in the evening when the mall is on the brink of closing. Crowds usually are thinner during these times in the off-season. During the summer months, however, the mall is a train station filled with interesting people bustling about from store to store. The air crackles with all sorts of sounds and the excitement is so frenzied that you can feel it.
Yet, if you are more of the stationary type who prefers to sit, you should be relieved to know that there are benches and comfortable chairs throughout the mall where you can just sit, relax and do some serious people watching. People watching at Coastal Grand Mall is arguably better than people watching any day at Wal-Mart. Believe that.
Most mall folks, however, come for retail therapy. And if you are in this crowd, you will be pleased aplenty with what Myrtle Beach’s premier shopping complex has to offer.
Coastal Grand Mall is home to an assortment of stores specializing in accessories, clothing, books, music, gift items and electronics.
