Monterey Bay Suites’s down-home breakfast is free and fabulous
“[The] free breakfast every morning was awesome,” said Sylvia Gallegos in a recent post to the hotel’s Facebook page.
This breakfast worth bragging about is enjoyed from an oceanfront view overlooking the pools of Monterey Bay.
“It is good food,” said Stacey Vaughan, homeowner service manager at Monterey Bay. “I usually just eat the fruit and stuff like that, but the biscuits and gravy are really good.”
Vaughan said winter visitors also take advantage of the economical room rates, with prices as low as $40 per night.
Marlene Kopeschny Heinrichs, another guest of Monterey Bay, said the morning meal is golden.
“The breakfast is the best part,” Heinrichs said in a Facebook post.
With the obvious benefits of the Atlantic Ocean tossed in, too, the breakfast is also delightful because of its simplicity.
There is fresh fruit (which varies depending upon the season), cold cereal, oatmeal and certified homey superstars like grits and country-fried steak.
Year-around, from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., guests walk through a line to get breakfast – the cold items they get on their own, while staff serves the hot food to them.
Once guests get their food, the real fun begins as they go off to take pleasure in a breakfast soothing to the body and soul.
“The breakfast is served in the lobby, where there are tables and chairs,” Vaughan said. “Guests can always sit in the veranda area, too.”
Donald Moore Jr., a resident of Knoxville, Tenn., said he misses the experience.
“I love the smell of the fresh made Belgian waffle, “Moore said on Monterey Bay’s Facebook page. “I miss the beach.”
