Get Free Surfing Lessons With The Monterey Bay Kids Club
A great kids club is one perk that families love about staying in a family-friendly Myrtle Beach Hotel like Monterey Bay. Full of fun and games, our kids club runs through the end of August. There are plenty of options to choose from every week and the whole family is always invited to participate. One popular new offering is our free in-pool surfing lessons.
“It has been amazing,” said Ashely Aldridge, Monterey Bay’s front office manager. “A local surf instructor comes in and he teaches you how to stand up on the board in the pool. And then if you like it you can rent surfboards and paddleboards and he’ll show you how to use them. It’s been a huge success.”
The surf instructors are from Kokopelli Surf Camp in Myrtle Beach. And, while Kokopelli’s surf camps offer two or three days of surf instruction for $180-$220 per person, the Monterey Bay pool surf lessons are totally free to our guests.
“We’re located right beside an area on the beach where you can surf, so if you like it, you can just rent right from them. They’re here dropping off boards all the time. It’s really been great. Anyone can do it. Grandma and grandpa; I’ve seen little kids out there who are 3 or 4 years old,” Aldridge said.
The surf lessons are taught as part of the Monterey Bay kids club on Mondays at noon and generally last about an hour.
“It depends on how many people there are,” Aldridge said. “They’ll teach you how to stand up and keep your balance and they’ll push you around on the surf board in the outdoor pool area. They’re really great.”
But - if surf lessons aren’t your thing - don’t worry! There are plenty of different activities to choose from, from arts and crafts to games. It all adds up to more fun for families and that’s why Monterey Bay Suites is known as one of the most family-friendly hotels in Myrtle Beach!
