Winter Attractions: Nights Of A Thousand Candles
While there is plenty to do in Myrtle Beach this holiday season, one of the area’s perennial favorites is Nights of a Thousand Candles at Brookgreen Gardens in Murrells Inlet. Serving as one of the top winter attractions in Myrtle Beach, Nights of a thousand Candles sees locals and tourists alike returning year after year to experience the beautiful gardens and stunning sculptures with a little added holiday cheer.
Nights of a Thousand Candles is unlike any other holiday attraction in Myrtle Beach. Enjoy the beautiful ambiance of the 5,500+ hand-lit candles and a seemingly never-ending display of twinkling lights.
The everyday walk through the gardens is nothing short of amazing. Brookgreen Gardens is filled to the brim with perfectly maintained landscaping., gorgeous shrubbery and unbelievable tree life. They are also home to over 1,400 sculptures by 350 artists. You’ll see a side variety of human sculptures, animal sculptures, abstract sculptures and much more. Nights of a Thousand Candles brings it all to life with festive lights and candle displays which accompany the meticulous landscaping and breathtaking sculptures.
This is the second year for the beautiful Conway Glass outdoor glass sculpture exhibit, which will be on display in Anne’s Garden. The exhibit features glass reeds standing 24 to 40 inches tall and many glass orbs ranging from 3 inches to 10 inches in size. The glass is lit by LED lights and fiber optic cables glowing in white, blue, amber, blue and brown. There will also be a glowing “Tree of Glass” crafted from transparent glass artfully inserted into a brick wall as well as a huge Crepe Myrtle decorated in white ornaments.
Brookgreen also has an app to supplement the experience. If you plan on attending during your stay at Monterey Bay Suites, the app quickly and easily displays all of the information you’ll need about the event. It is available via the Apple App Store and Google Play.

There will be food available for purchase catered by Inlet Affairs. There will be a variety of soups as well as some fantastic seafood dishes, chicken tenders, burgers, desserts, drinks & much more. Year after year the folks at Brookgreen Gardens work incredibly hard to bring an unforgettable holiday experience. It is located at 1931 Brookgreen Drive, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576. From Monterey Bay Suites you’ll head south on Ocean Blvd and make a right on 67th Ave. At the first light you’ll make a left onto Kings Hwy (Bus. 17). Make a right onto 62nd Ave. take that until you reach the light at Hwy 17 Bypass and make a left. You’ll take Hwy 17 Bypass about 22 miles until you reach Brookgreen Gardens.
